Making Hoofprints in the Community: Equine Police Volunteers Patrol Mote Park

We are pleased to welcome our Equine Community Policing Volunteers who are now supporting patrols within Mote Park alongside the Neighbourhood Policing Team.

The use of horses within public spaces provides a highly visible and approachable policing presence, helping to increase public confidence, deter anti-social behaviour and create opportunities for positive engagement with park users. Horses naturally attract attention and encourage conversations with members of the community who may not ordinarily engage with officers, allowing us to build stronger relationships and gather valuable local information.

Throughout the patrol, the equine volunteers engaged with visitors, dog walkers, families and park staff, receiving an overwhelmingly positive response from the public. The visibility of the horses contributed to a welcoming atmosphere while reinforcing the message that Mote Park remains a safe and enjoyable place for everyone.

Moving forward, we will continue to work with our Equine Volunteers as part of our broader approach to community engagement and crime prevention. Regular high-visibility patrols will help deter anti-social behaviour, strengthen community relations and provide reassurance to those visiting the park.

We would like to thank our Equine Volunteers for their ongoing support and commitment to helping keep our communities safe.
